Day 1 : Destination: Arusha – The Safari Town Accommodations: Arusha Coffee Lodge Activity: Airport arrival. Meet, greet & assist. Rest & Relax.
Your host will be on hand when you arrive at the airport and will take you to Arusha Coffee Lodge. Comprising of 30 Plantation Houses that radiate out into the evergreen coffee fields, Arusha Coffee Lodge has been designed around the original landowner’s home that dates back to the early 1900’s. Enjoy freshly brewed Tanzania coffee whilst you relax and unwind after your flight. If you’re ready for sleep, you’ll immediately relax in your luxurious room, with its fine linens. In the morning you’ll be refreshed and ready to go. Who says a safari has to be rustic.
Day 2 : Destination: Tarangire National Park Estimated Driving Distance: 2.5 hours Accommodations: Chem Chem Lodge Activity: Drive to Tarangire: Enjoy Afternoon Game Viewing drive
Travel to Tarangire National Park, where you embark on an afternoon game drive in search of eland, oryx, wildebeests, zebras and a sizable elephant population that call the park’s diverse swamps, open grasslands and acacia-dotted parkland home. The Tarangire River runs through the landscape, quenching wildlife with a year-round supply of water. And with over 300 species of birds, including pelican, storks and of course, lesser pink flamingos, the bird life is abundant and colorful
Day 3 : Destination: Tarangire National Park Accommodations: Chem Chem Lodge Activity: Morning & Afternoon Game viewing Drives
We enjoy a full day in the Chem Chem Wildlife Concession where the action simply never stops: from majestic Elephants, agile tree-climbing lions, to giraffe, wildebeest, warthogs, zebras, impalas, aardvarks, hyenas each taking their turn at the various water holes. The Tarangire valley is famous for its large density of elephants and its giant Baobab trees. You can track down groups of giraffe in the Palm forest, or listen to the cheeky chatter of baboon and other primates. Lions roam around the Little Chem Chem at night; cheetahs hunt on the plains facing the Lake Burunge; leopards, eland and lesser kudu can be seen in the more dense woods in the inner part of the concession.
Day 4 : The Ngorongoro Crater Estimated Driving Distance: 3.5 hours Accommodations: Ngorongoro Exploreans Lodge Activity: Morning Game Drive; Transfer to Ngorongoro & Spend Afternoon at Leisure
After breakfast take a morning drive enroute Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano and bucolic sanctuary supporting a wide array of wildlife, including the elusive black rhino. Stay the next two nights at The Ngorongoro Exploreans Lodge set on 50 acres of virgin Tanzanian bush in the Ngorongoro volcanic landscape. This all suites wood log cabin style retreat is located a few steps from the Game Reserve Gate and 20 minutes’ drive away from the Ngorongoro Crater that is said to have the most dense concentration of wildlife in Africa.
Day 5 : The Ngorongoro Crater Accommodations: Ngorongoro Exploreans Lodge Activity: Crater Tour, Game Viewing & Picnic Lunch in the Crater
Today we shall pack a picnic lunch and spend the day within the crater. There are around 30,000 large animals within the crater, so you are bound to see lots of wildlife: large herds of wildebeest, antelope and zebras roam the landscape, often being pursued by hyenas, cheetahs or lions. The lake inside the crater is home to numerous colorful bird species, and you can see hippos lounging in the water. Every so often, visitors see impressive bull elephants passing through the crater ar ea in search of water, though herds with cows and calves are rare.
Day 6 : Serengeti National Park Estimated Driving Distance: 3.5 Hours Accommodations: Four Seasons Serengeti Activity: Transfer to Serengeti with Game Viewing En Route
After breakfast we proceed to the vast Serengeti in search of cheetahs, lions and leopards in pursuit of prey. Take an optional hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti plains (at an additional cost), viewing wildlife — hippos, wildebeests and Thompson’s gazelle — from above. The Serengeti houses abundant life beyond its mammal population, including over 500 species of birds. Watch, too, for eagles, known to glide effortlessly over the Lobo Hills and sun-scorched landscape; lightning-fast cheetahs, who prowl the southeastern plains; and untold plains-grazers, who become unwitting prey. During down time, pore over a good book in your room or absorb the warm, golden glow of African sunset.
Day 7 : Serengeti National Park Accommodations: Four Seasons Serengeti Activity: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Our vantage point in the Serengeti allows us to further explore this vast and endlessly rolling savannah plain. It is Tanzania's first-established, largest and most famous park wherein tens of thousands of hoofed animals roam in a constant and unremitting search for the fresh grasslands upon which their survival depends. The Serengeti, whose Maasai name ‘Siringet' translates as ‘the endless plains', offers unparalleled ornithological opportunities and an unrivalled natural arena wherein the glory and harmony of nature can be appreciated as nowhere else on earth.
Day 8 : Serengeti National Park Accommodations: Four Seasons Serengeti Activity: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Once again you will be able to experience game drives in the morning and in the afternoon. Both drives will give you great wildlife viewing opportunities. You will see large herds of local grazing animals going by, and also have a good chance of seeing some of the big cats. If you’re able to visit between January and March, you may be able to witness the Great Migration, when huge herds of Thomson’s gazelles, wildebeests and zebras return to the Serengeti as they give birth to their young. It is an unforgettable experience that is not to be missed. After all these adventures, you will be more than ready for a mid-day nap, a dip in the pool or laze on the veranda to escape the heat of the day.
Day 9 : Arusha Activity: Fly to Arusha; Transfer to your Hotel to Rest & Relax. Transfer to Airport for your Departure Flight Home
A day that seemed a long way off just a few short days ago has come much too soon. Business, work and home await and it is time to return to that other world and bid your travel companions goodbye. After you enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your resort, you will be transferred to Lobo Airstrip for your flight to Arusha. . Later you transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, where you will connect with your outbound flight home, carrying a lifetime of memories from your African tour back with you.
